People Smart Summer Series
Cultural Considerations for...
The 2026 People Smart Summer Series explores Cultural Dimensions Theory with a focus on practical applications in each of the featured professions (as well as a closing session for people from a variety of people-oriented professions).
Cultural Dimensions theory recognizes that misunderstandings and miscommunications often arise in multicultural environments due to a lack of understanding of the six cultural dimensions we often take for granted:
-
Power Distance Index
-
Individualism vs. Collectivism
-
Motivation Towards Achievement and Success
-
Uncertainty Avoidance Index
-
Short-Term vs. Long Term Orientation Index
-
Indulgence vs. Restraint
An understanding of these dimensions can improve outcomes for practitioners in people-first professions.
Each workshop in the series will include:
-
An exploration of how these dimensions might show up in your work
-
Interactive activities to help you self-assess, reflect on your practice, and engage with likeminded professionals
-
Opportunities to interview a multicultural panel of guests who are stakeholders in the work you do
